Dallas Stars protection list finalized, Cody Eakin and Dan Hamhuis exposed

The Dallas Stars protection list is out for the 2017 NHL Expansion draft and the following players are protected:

Forwards

Jamie Benn, Jason Spezza, Tyler Seguin, Radek Faksa, Valeri Nichushkin, Antoine Roussel, Brett Ritchie

Defenders

John Klingberg, Esa Lindell, Stephen Johns

Goalie

Ben Bishop

The following players are exposed:

Forwards

Cody Eakin, Curtis McKenzie, Adam Cracknell, Justin Dowling, Gemel Smith, Matej Stransky, Mark McNeill.

Defenders

Dan Hamhuis, Jamie Oleksiak, Greg Pateryn, Patrik Nemeth, Mattias Backman, Nick Ebert, Ludwig Bystrom.

Goalies

Antti Niemi, Kari Lehtonen

There are couple things to remember with this expansion draft. The Stars can only lose one player off this list and an exposed player could be protected in another manner with a side deal or trade with the Vegas Golden Knights. Teams can also make deals with Vegas to try and acquire a player another team left exposed, so there are lots of moving parts here.

Players not listed are exempt from the expansion draft.
