Kari Lehtonen did everything he needed, but the Dallas Stars couldn’t bail out their goalie in a 3-0 loss to the New York Islanders.
Lehtonen stopped 33 of 35 shots. He stopped all 18 on the penalty kill as the Stars went a perfect 7-for-7 killing penalties.
It was arguably Lehtonen’s best game of the season and it was still a 3-0 loss.
It came after another strong relief performance for Lehtonen when he didn’t officially get the win against the New York Rangers on Tuesday. However he deserved much of the credit after he stopped all 12 shots in the third period to preserve 7-6 win.
