At some point we’ll grow tired of the Tyler Seguin vs. Boston Bruins drama.
But as long as he’s still playing on a contract he originally signed with Boston, and he continues to make big plays against his former team, the Seguin-Bruins storyline is impossible to ignore.
That was pretty obvious in a 3-2 overtime in a matinee game on Monday.

During a delayed penalty Seguin single-handedly took control of the game, and delivered a victory for the Stars.
It’s a play that looks more impressive on each viewing, starting with a simple stick lift to gain full possession.
That’s the part of the play that stood out for me. It’s a small-details, sweat-the-small-stuff type play where Seguin easily could have given up the puck and it would have created a power play for the Stars on the delayed penalty.
Instead the quick lift sparks an impressive series of stickhandles against a tired Bruins defense. It’s been a long shift, the Bruins are tired, and the Stars took advantage.
After traversing through the defense, Seguin finishes off the play with a wrist shot to beat Anton Khudobin. Should Khudobin be stacking the pads here? Probably not, but it doesn’t take away from the overtime winner.
Christopher Story says
Very impressive for the Stars to maintain possession for so long leading up to the goal.

That stick lift was absolutely fantastic. Blink and you’ll miss it; I didn’t even notice it until I watched the replays. But without it, Boston likely would’ve gained possession and the whole sequence wouldn’t have happened.

Holy moly, indeed. Never even saw the stick lift. That’s an unassisted goal if I ever saw one.
