The Dallas Stars are going to have to shuffle their lineup Monday against the Winnipeg Jets.
Radek Faksa (lower-body) and Tyler Pitlick (upper-body) are both doubtful to play after sustaining injuries against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
“We don’t expect it to be long term,” Stars coach Ken Hitchcock said. “But they are doubtful for tomorrow.”
Martin Hanzal (lower-body), who missed the last three games, could be an option.
“We’re testing Hanzal today competitively to see if he’s ready to go,” Hitchcock said. “So we’ll see where he’s at.”
Hitchcock said the preference is to play an existing lineup, so the Stars will likely only call-up a forward if Hanzal isn’t available.
“If Hanzal is able to play and both guys can’t play tomorrow, we would prefer to play 11 and seven or use a defenseman as a forward,” Hitchcock said.
Hitchcock said Jamie Oleksiak would be the defender moved up to forward.
If Hanzal isn’t ready the Stars will have call-up a forward from the Texas Stars, likely Curtis McKenzie.
Hitchcock also said that Ben Bishop would be back in goal against Winnipeg.
