FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Stars center Martin Hanzal isn’t going to take part in the first four days of training camp with a sprained ankle. Stars coach Ken Hitchcock said Hanzal sustained the injury in an informal practice and will join practice when the team returns from Cedar Park.
The Stars will make also decision in a couple days on whether to bring over defender Miro Heiskanen for training camp.
Heiskanen, 18, was the No. 3 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft and is dealing with a concussion sustained in a Champions Hockey League game with HIFK. Stars general manager Jim Nill said the team will assess Heiskanen’s status in “two or three days.”
Nill also said defensive prospect Chris Martenet will be out two months with mono. Martenet, a fourth-round pick, is entering his first full professional season and is expected to play in either the AHL or the ECHL.
