Dallas Stars top prospect Miro Heiskanen is dealing with concussion issues and will miss NHL training camp this week in Cedar Park.
Heiskanen first told the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat about the concussion and that he wouldn’t be flying to Texas for training camp like originally planned.
Heiskanen is listed on the Stars 62- player training camp roster, but is listed as an injured player. He was originally supposed to play in the NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, but missed that with what the Stars described as an upper-body injury.
Despite that injury the Stars had said earlier this week that they still expected Heiskanen to take part in Training Camp.
According to the Finnish story (and using google translate) doctors decided it wasn’t safe for him to come to Texas at this time.
The trip was supposed to start already at the beginning of last week.
“I can not say,” Heiskanen answered the starting point. “The doctors decide to leave or not.”
The bad thing happened in HEISKASELLA. He received a CHL match against Munich from his elbows on his head. Kolhija did not even get the ice, even though not much of Heisha would have comforted.
How did it finally happen?
“Concussion came,” Heiskanen confirmed to HS.
Now Heiskanen has been around for a month and a half almost in rest. “I have been treading the wheel,” he said sole of their training.
How disappointed are you with the situation?
“It’s a little annoying, but there’s something going on in between,” Heiskanen said.
The Stars have media availability today in Frisco before heading to Cedar Park, there may be a more formal update from the team at that time.
