DALLAS — With the trade deadline less than 24 hours away a new wrinkle surfaced on Tuesday when it was revealed that Patrick Sharp, a pending unrestricted free agent and potential trade target, is dealing with an undisclosed injury.
“Yeah, I’ll discuss that more tomorrow,” Stars general manager Jim Nill said. “Right now, I’ll talk to the doctors a little bit more leading up to tomorrow, but he’s dealing with an injury, yes.”
After the game Lindy Ruff followed the company line.
“It’s tough. Jim (Nill) will address Patrick’s situation tomorrow,” Ruff said. “He wants to keep on playing, and he’s playing hard, and he’s playing well, but it’s been something he’s been dealing with.”
We’ll have more on Sharp’s status tomorrow.

Niemi wins
Antti Niemi made 18 saves for his first complete game win since Jan. 12.
“I thought he played a strong game for us. Made a couple real big saves,” Ruff said. “Obviously, they had a couple shifts where they had us running, and they can do that. They move the puck really well. But I thought we rebounded, and Antti gave us the key save at the key time to allow us to win a hockey game.”
