DALLAS — The Dallas Stars lost 5-2 on Wednesday night to the Ottawa Senators.
It was a game that was reminiscent of the entire season. The Stars had some highs, but they couldn’t overcome the lows as they failed to extend what had been a two-game win streak.
Despite the result, Remi Elie continued to impress.
Playing in his first home game the rookie was moved up to the top line with Tyler Seguin and Jason Spezza, while he also had his first career NHL point and assisted on Seguin’s second period goal.
It was the only positive thing Stars coach Lindy Ruff could discuss after the game.
“You need a combination. Today’s game — you look at all the years of Kunitz with Crosby all the time, he’s the same type of guy,” Ruff said. “Heavy, hard, he goes to the net, goes right through people. Sometimes you can put the skill there, but if they don’t get inside enough or they don’t have enough battle to out-muscle, you need somebody there to help them out.”

Goalie change
Dallas used two goalies for the 11th time this season when Kari Lehtonen was pulled after allowing three goals on 18 shots.
Ruff was asked about his decision after the game.
“Not to be critical, but we got two great games out of Kari where he played fabulous. We probably would have wanted a couple more saves,” Ruff said. “Tried to change momentum, tried to get it going the right way. I think that kind of the history, if a couple go in, a couple bad you want back, a few more go in. Just made the switch to try to get it going in the other direction.”
