DALLAS — Antoine Roussel is going to miss extended time, potentially the rest of the season after blocking a shot by Johnny Boychuck in the first period.
“It’s not good news. I don’t have a timeframe, but it’s going to be a while,” Roussel said. “In all likelihood, probably the rest of the year. That hurt us.”
Roussel had seven shifts for 5:20 of ice time before the injury.
With Roussel out the Stars will likely need to recall a forward before Friday’s game against the Florida Panthers.
Hemsky returns
Ales Hemsky returned to the Stars lineup after missing five months due to a hip injury and had 20 shifts for 10:07 of ice time.
“Up and down. The first wasn’t that bad. I thought I was skating pretty well,” Hemsky said. “I took the blocked shot and I was a little slower, but overall my legs felt pretty good. My hands are not there yet, but I’ll take it. I’m happy I can play. We will see next game.”
Hemsky blocked a shot in the second period, also from Boychuck, and was hobbled a bit by that.
