FRISCO, Texas — Stars captain Jamie Benn will miss Wednesday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens with a foot injury.
Benn sustained the injury in the second period of a 3-1 loss to the Florida Panthers on Dec. 31 when he went awkwardly into the boards. Benn finished the game, but didn’t practice on Monday or Tuesday.
“He’s still day-to-day, but he won’t play tomorrow,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said.
Benn has a history of gutting through injuries and hasn’t missed a game with injury since March 2013.
“This is a situation where it’s our responsibility to keep him out,” Ruff said. “He could probably play, but to what effect he would be and where he would be in a couple days would be a big concern of ours.”
