Heiskanen missed NHL training camp and the Traverse City Prospects tournament with a concussion, but according Finnish journalist Nico Oksanen the teenager didn’t let that bother him. Heiskanen said it was frustrating to miss training camp, but knows there will be more opportunities in the future.
Heiskanen was also asked about the Stars organization as a whole, and was rather complimentary.
Heiskanen of the Stars organizion: Team is great, city is nice and people around the team are fantastic. His really happy to be part of it.

It’s extremely early in the season, but Heiskanen’s play could springboard him into an NHL job next season with Dallas. The 18-year-old is also likely going to play in the Olympics this year with NHL players not participating, which could be another confidence boost for the Finn.

I thought he can’t go to the olympics because he signed an NHL contract… isn’t it all players with an NHL contract are
not allowed to participate? I’m still a bit confused on all of this. Either way, he’s looking great.
Sean Shapiro says
It’s all NHL-contracted players in North America. Those playing in Europe but on NHL contract are Olympic eligible.
