When designing Dallas Stars coverage plans at Wrong Side of the Red Line I like to think about it this way — what do fans want to see?
That’s why the post-game video segments came to life, it’s why the mailbag is one of my favorite projects each week, and it’s one of the main reasons their is expanded coverage for subscribers.
And that’s how the new postgame “Carcast” was born. Most home games I end up carpooling with Stars radio host Owen Newkirk, and the ride back to the Northern Suburbs often turns into a conversation and extended postgame show of sorts about the game.
Last night we decided to make it a slightly more formal conversation and record it as a podcast. Here is the result:
As with any project at Wrong Side of the Red Line, I’m looking for reader and listener feedback on the idea.
Like it? Hate it? Suggestions? Please don’t hesitate to share.
And, yes, I know you can hear the highway in the background. Going to try using a better microphone in the next Carcast.
Housekeeping Notes
— Ryan Pennington has taken over duties at Wrong Side of the Red Line putting together the quickie recap that goes live at the buzzer. It’s a setup that allows me to focus more on grabbing a post-game notebook based primarily on locker room availability, like last night’s that focused on upcoming defensive decisions and Ben Bishop’s passing.
— I’m working on a lengthy subscriber story on Bishop’s communication with his defensemen. Hope to have it published later today after grabbing a couple more interviews after practice.
— The mailbag comes out Friday, I’ll be putting out a call for questions on Twitter and Reddit later today. Keep an eye out for that.
