The October edition of Stars Prospect Insider came out on Sunday with season updates for each prospect in the Dallas Stars system.
If you missed it, you can check out the link here. You cal also find it by clicking the link in the menu tab above.
For those who haven’t subscribed, here are two randomly pulled profiles from the list:
Roope Hintz
(6-foot-3, 205 pounds)
Acquired: Second round (49th overall) in 2015
2017-18 team: Texas Stars (AHL)
Projection: Playmaking top-six forward
Potential full-time NHL duty: 2018-19 seasonThe scouts that were down on Gurianov were highly appreciative of what Hintz has done to start this season. Reviews from a couple outside parties — and I share this view — are that he doesn’t look like a player that has little to no experience in North America. Hintz is starting to look a bit more like a scorer than a playmaker, but he can play both roles and has created nice time and space for his linemates in Cedar Park. He’s not a call-up option this season, or at least he shouldn’t be, but he could be an opening-night NHL player next season.
Colton Point
(6-foot-4, 220 pounds)
Acquired: Fifth round (128th overall) in 2016
2017-18 team: Colgate (NCAA)
Potential full-time NHL duty: 2021-22Off to a tremendous start with a 1.28 goals against average and .955 save percentage with Colgate. Doesn’t play as nearly as good of a team as Oettigner, so those numbers are even more impressive as he faces a heavy work load. Tracks the puck well through screens (which seem to be a common thing against him) and has made the most of a full-time starting job as a sophomore. Off ice he needs to keep building up his fitness level, but there aren’t many flaws with his start to the season.
A lot of work goes into these scouting reports using opinions from coaches, scouts, and my own viewing to try and crate a quick snapshot of the Stars system on a monthly basis.
