Karstrom had 13 shifts for 8 minutes, 5 second of ice time and had three shots in the game. Sweden will play Canada in the semifinal on Wednesday.
Stars forward prospect Denis Gurianov had an assist in Russia’s 4-0 win against Denmark. Gurianov was plus-1 and had 26 shifts for 16 minutes, 23 seconds of ice time. Russia will play the United States in the other semifinal on Wednesday.
Stars defensive prospect Joseph Cecconi helped the United States to a 3-2 win against Switzerland. Cecconi had 20 shifts for 13:36 TOI.
Stars defensive prospect Ondrej Vala had his tournament come to an end when the Czech Republic lost to Canada 5-3 in the last quarterfinal of the night. Vala was minus-3 and had 25 shifts for 18:29 TOI.
Vala finished the tournament without any points was minus-4 and had two shots on net.
Stars goalie prospect Markus Ruusu didn’t dress for Finland in the first game of the three-game relegation series with Latvia. Finland won 2-1, the loser of the best-of-three series will be relegated to the Division 1 tournament in 2018.
