The Dallas Stars have made their first move of free agency and signed Tyler Pitlick to a three-year contract.

Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed forward Tyler Pitlick to a three-year, $3-million contract.
Pitlick, 25, posted 11 points (8-3=11) in 31 games played for Edmonton in 2016-17. His eight goals marked a career-high and all came at even strength. He also added 70 hits in his 31 games played, which was 11th on the team.
In parts of three NHL seasons, all with Edmonton, he has posted 14 points (11-3=14) in 58 career regular-season games. He has also played in parts of five American Hockey League seasons with Bakersfield and Oklahoma City, where he combined to record 85 points (28-57=85) in 196 career regular-season games. In 31 career Calder Cup Playoff contests, he posted 13 points (4-9=13).
“Tyler is a young player who will add speed and size to our lineup,” said Nill. “He offers versatility to our forward group and we look forward to him being a Dallas Star for many years.”
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Minneapolis, Minn. was originally selected by Edmonton in the second round (31st overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
A coupler former Stars also found new homes on Saturday.
Patrick Sharp went back to Chicago and took a big pay cut after making $5.9 million last season in Dallas.

Antti Niemi signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Dallas bough him out of the final year of his $4.5 million contract earlier this week.
