Waivers are often misunderstood. Even amongst those who work in the hockey industry, there is often a bit of confusion when it comes to waiver status and two-way contracts.
And it’s something that Dallas Stars fans should probably understand, since it’s going to have an impact on Dallas sooner than later.
Ryan Satkowiak and I discussed that and more during the most recent episode of Wrong Side of the Red Line: A Dallas Stars Podcast.
Please note, this was recorded Monday before the Stars 6-4 win against the Los Angeles Kings. A game where Jiri Hudler scored his first goal of the season to cap a wild third period.
Topics covered:
1 minute: Waivers 101.
9 minutes: Patrik Nemeth’s conditioning stint. What does it mean?
16 minutes: There is a much simpler way to watch the rest of the Stars season, and it all includes the number 97.
22 minutes: A discussion of Jamie Benn’s injury ailments.
25 minutes: How will the expansion draft impact trades?
33 minutes: A natural hat trick with empty net goals?
38 minutes: A discussion on Valeri Nichushkin and what type of impact he would have had this season.
41 minutes: Speaking of Russians. Denis Gurianov had a pretty good showing at the World Junior Championship for Russia. So did some other Stars prospects.
48 minutes: League-wide talk about the All-Star game and alternate jerseys.
